I'm Christopher Ross. By trade, I'm a wood coatings specialist: I spend my working days deep in finishing chemistry, spray application, and the fine details of how a coating holds up on cabinets, millwork, and heavy-use commercial furniture. It's not the kind of thing most people think about when they sit down at a restaurant table, but the finish is doing more work than the wood underneath it.
That's where Wood Rescuer started. I've always had a soft spot for cabinets and restaurant furniture in particular; the pieces that take a beating every single day and still need to look good doing it. When I started noticing solid wood furniture heading for the curb around Niagara, pieces that just needed the same care I already give commercial finishes for a living, it felt like an obvious thing to do something about.
So I rescue what I can, strip it down, repair what needs repairing, and refinish it properly. Once it sells, the money goes to TAMS Sanctuary in Wainfleet, an animal sanctuary I've come to care about. This isn't a business I'm trying to grow. It's a way to put a skill I already have to use for something that matters to me outside of work.

Every piece that comes through my workshop gets the same treatment I'd give a commercial job: proper stripping, real repairs where joinery has failed, and a finish built to last, not just to look good on day one. See the full breakdown on the services page.
The rest of what I do
Outside the workshop, I run thisismyurl.com, where I build and consult on WordPress websites for small businesses. I also make shop tooling for CNC and 3D printing work at Annapolis Tools. Wood Rescuer is a separate, personal project: no client work happens here, and nothing sold through this site funds anything but TAMS.
